Abstract
This paper is based on analytical study of flow and heat transfer in cross and non - cross flow inline hole
jet plate solar air heater with fins attached underside the absorber surface. Results are presented for various
fixed and variable geometrical and operational parameters such as jet hole diameter D = 6 - 10 cm, pitch
of the holes X = 6 cm, number of jet holes, N = 480, height of the longitudinal fins Lf = 0.012m, pitch of
the fins p = 3 mm, depth of the lower and upper channel, Z1 and Z2 = 8.0 cm, mass flow rates of air ṁ1=
50 to 300 kg / hm2 whereas ṁ2 = ṁ1/2for cross - flow and ṁ2 = 0 for non - cross flow, solar intensity IT =
650 W/m2
, wind velocity Vw = 1.3 m/s and ambient temperature TA = 30oC. The results show the To and hPj
are higher in non - cross flow than cross flow condition whereas ηc is higher in cross - flow than non -
cross flow than cross flow condition under same geometrical and operational parameters.
